Beresford Apartment - Projects - Baird Architects

BERESFORD APARTMENT

A young family moving uptown from Tribeca sought to transform a historic Upper West Side co-op into a loft-like residence. By eliminating the walls that previously separated the living room, dining room, and kitchen and creating a central connective gallery leading from the elevator entry, the formerly insular apartment was refashioned as an expansive living space with breathtaking views of Central Park. The original plaster crown moldings were preserved and expanded upon through the proliferation of new ornate plaster detailing, modernized through the application of a high gloss lacquer finish. The elevator vestibule was refashioned with walls of translucent fiber-optic-like acrylic panels that shimmer with movement.
