EAST HAMPTON POOLHOUSE
The multi-phase construction intervention on this property began with a pool and bath house in the garden. Inspired by a pre-existing potato shack on the site, the poolhouse integrates an exploration of light, transparency, and reclaimed materials to form its unique expression. A majority of the new structure is clad with weathered cedar siding salvaged from the old shack, while new plantation teak slatted walls create a shaded outdoor living room. This marriage of old and new materials is analogous to the bath house’s marriage of private and public programmatic spaces, and provides a strategy for future phases of design on the property.
